Flameless Drainage Chimney
Many processing tanks are located within a building or other area where standard explosion evacuation cannot be safely implemented. Among such applications, flameless explosion chimneys may be the best protection solution. The flameless discharge chimney consists of a discharge device with integrated flame arrester. When an explosion occurs, the vent device opens and directs the vented explosion through the flame arrester; Here, the gases are cooled as they pass through the flame arrester material, thus preventing the flames from spreading to the environment. Opening detection of integrated electronic controls can be used to inform facility personnel of the status of the system.
Capacity, filter area and housing dimensions are sized for your plant according to dust type, dust load and air flow. Share your process details and we will define the right system and quotation with you.

✔ Internal explosion pressure relief without explosion flames or explosion relief channels
✔ Reacts and opens at low pressure setting (0.05 bar standard)
✔ ATEX certified and NFPA compliant
✔ Resistance to full vacuum
✔ Explosion relief valves are produced in different sizes to suit many applications
✔ Uninterrupted operation after explosion, and lower risk of fire and after-explosion due to immediate re-sealing
✔ Virtually no maintenance required
✔ Flexibility – no need to design a facility with external components or components adjacent to external walls
Explosion relief valves are available in different material combinations to meet specific technical requirements.
Optional valve motion sensor and alternative ring materials provide versatility for different applications
Flameless Evacuation
A variety of flameless extraction equipment is available that complies with NFPA 68 and EN 14797 and is used to reduce dust explosions. These flameless evacuation equipment consist of two parts: “Explosion Covers” and “Dampeners”. The damper consists of multiple layers of stainless steel mesh supported by a metal frame. Ignition and sparking within a closed container cause the pressure to increase rapidly. Burst caps are designed to reduce and relieve pressure. Burning dust, flame and hot gases all enter the damper through this opened cover. The damper then takes over to absorb heat from the flame and hot gases. The steel mesh acts as a heat sink to reduce the temperature, extinguish the flame and break the chain reaction of the explosion. The flame is completely trapped in the damper, thus providing flameless explosion relief for safe operation in indoor environments. Flameless evacuation equipment is the ideal passive explosion mitigation tool.
Scope of application
Flameless evacuation products can be used in conjunction with explosion caps on a wide variety of process equipment. These products are designed for use on equipment located indoors because they prevent the release of a fireball. The main usage areas of flameless evacuation products can be listed as follows;
- Pneumatic conveying equipment
- dust collectors
- trash cans
- cyclones
- Bucket elevators
- mills
- silos
- dryers
